| Description | The paper is generally engaged in domestic research somewhat neglected topic of increasing importance of metropolis, which is examined with emphasis on the Moravian part of the Czech Republic. Structure of the paper includes the theoretical starting points of metropolisation processes research (including their incorporation into the created spatial model of economic development of the Czech Republic); basic information on the methodological approach used for an assessment (identification) of metropolises and practically oriented conceptualization of the obtained findings. Based on the elaborated analyses and other available information, may be taken strategically important conclusion that the metropolis of international importance may only be granted to Brno while Ostrava does not meet the relevant requirements. An important practical contribution could be also considered presented scenarios of further development of the two largest Moravian settlements. |
