Description | Introduction: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small single stranded RNA and important regulators of gene expression. The former has been demonstrated that also participate pathogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM). Currently, attention of clinicians and researchers focuses on circulating miRNA, which can be detected in various body fluids as e.g. serum, plasma or urine. Circulating miRNA in urine are very stable, thanks to quantification also has the potential to become freely available non-invasive biomarker of the disease. MM is a systemic disease that affects a many other organs, such as the kidneys. It is therefore possible that circulating miRNAs identified in the urine of patients may correlate with disease. Aim: The aim of this study was to identify miRNAs that circulate in the urine, and that would be able to distinguish patients with MM from healthy donors (HD). |
