Description | Max Weber argued that disenchantment of the world is accompanying phenomenon of rationalization, which is a part of the modernization process in the West. Science is said to be one of the biggest contributors of the disenchantment of the world in the society and also in the mind of individuals. The study of religions as a scientific discipline which is also taught at universities operates directly with scientific rationalization of religions. This contribution thus asks: Does the study of religions cause disenchantment of religions on the micro-level of individuals? The contribution deals with the inquiry whether the academic study of religions through the scientific rationalization disenchant the religions on the level of the personal relationships to religions – focusing on the students of the study of religions. |
