Description | A new locality of Carex davalliana, strongly endangered Cyperaceae species of mineral rich fens, was discovered in the Lubenský les Forest in the Litomyšl region (Eastern Bohemia, Czech Republic). Carex davalliana grows there in littoral zone of the recently constructed forest pond in rich fen vegetation which can be classified to the alliance Sphagno warnstorfii-Tomentypnion nitentis. Vegetation of the pond and its surroundings is described in the paper. Vegetation dominated by Scirpus sylvaticus (association Scirpetum sylvatici) and Carex rostrata (association Equiseto fluviatilis-Caricetum rostratae) is typical for the littoral zone of the pond. Forest vegetation around the pond includes mainly wet spruce forests (association Equiseto sylvatici-Piceetum abietis), black alder forests with spruce (association Piceo abietis-Alnetum glutinosae) and mesotrophic species rich beech forests (association Galio odorati-Fagetum sylvaticae). |
