Description | The elbaite-subtype pegmatite from Řečice is unique showing unusual internal structure built of the medium- and coarse-grained units and common pockets but absence of graphic textures; however, the mineral assemblages are almost identical with further elbaite-subtype pegmatites in the Strážek Unit. Also tourmalines compositions are unusual showing high contents of Mg and mainly Ca, although the host rock is migmatized biotite gneiss and not marble; hence, pre-emplacement contamination is very likely responsible for this contamination (see Novák et al. 2012). The most remarkable feature is an occurrence of perfectly developed crystals of elbaite, up to 20 cm long, unique in the whole Europe except for some localities in the Ural Mnts., Russia. |
