Description This article deals with occupational stress in terms of its possible causes and negative effects on work and personal life. Results of log-linear analysis show that the main factors of work-related stress are insufficient time to work and high intensity of work. High rate of occupational stress is associated with high level of mental distress, fretfulness, sadness, depression and negative consequences for family life. Factor weakening the link between occupational stress and mental distress is ability of worker to separate work and family lives. Qualitative part of study supplied the occupational stress factors with perceived insecurity of job position, workers responsibility for other employees and contact with customers. Despite of relative high interest of managers in company’s social policy, potential threat lies in fact that part of managers does not identify occupational stress at their companies or does not consider it as problematic.
