| Description | Series of lectures was devoted to the discussions of opinions of the disputable applicability of the Altman methodology (Z-score indicator) in conditions the Czech Republic. The aim of series of lectures and following discussions was to prove the very limited significance of these opinions. This was achieved by: a) using the published theory of the Altman methodology (built on data from U.S. companies), b) results of the long-term practical use of the discussed methodology in the industrial practice of the Czech Republic and c) an empirical testing of the ability of the Z-score indicator to predict bankruptcy of analyzed businesses using the new linear discriminant function in the practically complete data base of businesses operating in the CR. The Altman methodology appears as fundamentally usable in the Czech environment, which also applies in a broader context to the technique of the discriminant functions. |
