Description In this paper the author analyses Comenius’ understanding of the homeland in his works: Truchlivý volume I and II, The Mournful, volume I and II (1624), Haggaeus redivivus/Haggeus revival (1632), Kšaft umírající matky Jednoty bratrske/Testament of the Dying Mother, the Unity of Brethren (1648), Unum necessarium (1668)/The Only Necessity, and Epistola ad Montanum/A letter to Montanus (1662) Comenius’ understanding is compared to the concept given in the official Baroque Literature of the Czech Lands (mostly in the works by Bohuslav Balbin and Tomaš Pešina). The author comes to the conclusion that both of the above-mentioned concepts, Comenius’ one and that of the official Baroque Literature, included in part territorial patriotism and in part language nationalism. But there is a difference in the determination of faith.
