Description | Speaking is a skill that is considered “fundamental” to communication by teachers and learners alike, yet it remains difficult to foster in the classroom. A wealth of reasons could be responsible for this. For example, large class sizes that do not allow teachers to hone learners’ speaking skills at an individual level, and give personalized feedback, or the teacher’s need to adhere to a syllabus that advocates lexis and grammar at the expense of developing speaking skills. Advances in digital technology now afford teachers and learners access to a myriad of voice recording tools, and unprecedented possibilities for learners to develop their speaking skills online. This practical session aims to show teachers how to use various online tools and activities to develop different areas of speaking - accuracy, fluency and intelligibility. Come and explore how to bring online speaking into your classroom. |
