Description | Is it possible to learn a language without knowing the culture which helped to develop it? When should culture be taught in the ELT classroom? Do learners need to have a high level of English before they begin looking at culture? How do we go about raising learners' cultural awareness? This session aims to address some of the questions above. By looking at what's available to us teachers and how the materials approach the subject, we'll explore the whats, whys and hows of bringing knowledge of the customs, traditions, and history of English- speaking countries into the language learning classroom and in turn, enhancing the learning experience. |
