Description | Individualised use of commercial pharmaceutical substitution preparations in our patients on long-term HPN led to sufficient substitution of zinc, copper, and iron. In the case of selenium the substitution was insufficient, while in manganese it led contrarily to its markedly raised concentration in the whole blood. In long-term HPN the status of trace elements in the organism has to be continually monitored and the daily substitution doses of these elements have to be flexibly adjusted. |
