Description | The aim of this study was to describe vegetation changes in the Hodonínská Dúbrava Wood, an area of high vascular plant species diversity. The evaluation of changes was based on a resurvey of 64 semi-permanent plots established in 1965 by forest typologists. There was significant change in species composition between the two surveys. Surprisingly, mean values of species richness per plot have not changed. The most successful functional group of understory species in terms of increased relative frequency and relative abundance in the data set over the last 50 years was the group of macrophanerophytes, i.e. seedlings and saplings of canopy trees and shrubs. Increased relative abundance was also achieved by non-native species (mostly neophytes), whereas increased relative frequency was detected in therophytes. When compared to the situation in 1965, there is a significant increase in relative covers of woody species, neophytes, ruderal and segetal species and nitrophytes. Species of dry grasslands and open woodlands significantly declined. |
