| Description | This thesis is focused on a subject of the movie theatre Čas in Brno (opened in 1947 to 1981) which was a part of the network of movie theatres called Čas that had been established during the forties in larger cities. The programming of this type of movie theatre consisted of the repeating loop of short films and newsreels. Main purposes of those movie theatres was to bear propaganda function, to make money and to convey coverage. By oral-history method I am trying to show how those purposes was fulfilled in practise in Brno movie theatre Čas and I reconstruct reasons which led spectators to visit Čas. This thesis also contributes to debate about utility of short movies and its use in everyday spare time of Czechoslovakia residents. |
