| Description | Václav Hladík (1868–1913) was Czech novelist, journalist and translator. He was a prolific and quite popular write during his life but later he has been forgotten. In his literary work, Hladík was influenced by French realism and naturalism. Honore de Balsac, Guy de Maupassant or Anatole France were among his favourite writers. His short stories and novels attempted to portray lives of contemporary upper classes in salons, theatres or promenades, but also to show work of clerks, journalists, artists. Nowadays, Hladík is largely connected with convenience literature. |
