Description | Phantom pain occurs not only after surgical or traumatic limb amputation, but also after amputation of other body parts, in case of spinal cord injury and brachial plexus avulsion and also in children with congenital limb deficiency. It results in up to 85 % of amputees and it remains puzzling phenomenon. Psychological care is important part of the care of a patient, whereas hypnotherapy appears to be as very effective. This article focuses on the potential of hypnotherapy in patients with phantom limb pain, including overview of published studies on this topic to date. |
