Description | Helicenes are ortho-condensed polycyclic aromatic compounds, in which benzene rings are angularly annulated to give helically-shaped molecules. The chemistry of helicenes attracts continuing attention because of their unique structural, spectral and optical features. Synthetic approaches are continuously developed allowing the syntheses of these unique compounds in higher amounts and with greater yields. The aim of this work is to investigate basic redox behaviour of [5]helicene, [6]helicene and [7]helicene in acetonitrile solutions using cyclic voltammetry. |
