Description | Although psychotherapy is claimed to be scientifically based, this aspect is often neglected in psychotherapy training. This text explores possibilities of integrating research findings and procedures into psychotherapy trainings (and into the education of psychotherapists in general) in seven areas: (1) the knowledge of the contemporary empirical base of psychotherapy, (2) case formulation and intervention planning using research findings, (3) the use of feedback on clients’ progress in therapy, (4) conducting high-quality case studies, (5) trainees’ active involvement in large-scale research projects, (6) the knowledge of findings on therapist professional development, and (7) research on the training process itself. |
