Description | The objectives of our study were to compare different excystation protocols of the oocysts of C. parvum to find the most effective one. Excystation is an essential process for successful in vitro assays and using the right method can save time and material to a considerable extent. The protocols that we tested differed in chemical pre-incubation steps, excystation media or time of incubation. Those pre-incubation steps which included sodium hypochlorite were found to increase the excystation ratio and methods using this step are therefore the most effective. |
