| Description | Paper introduces deserted medieval pond, discovered already in ´90s. The pond lies in cadestre of the municipality Střítež in the Northeastern part of Českomoravská vrchovina, in the river basin Bukov. Excavated body of the dam and sediments of the pond brought information about the structure and broader insight into settlement in the Middle Ages. Archaeological and historical sources in combination with geoarcheological and paleoecological research of sediments contribute to the knowledge of medieval colonisation. Fluvial sediments and floodplain alluvial cones at the mouth side of the valley were also studied. Resulting from obtained data, the antropogenic activities began in 12th century. The pond was probably constructed in 13th century and lasted until 17th century. There was a beech-abies forest which was intensively exploitated. Accretion of alluvial cones in the medieval is apparently associated with deforestation and meteorological fluctuations. |
