Description The article analyzes a complex issue of a geriatric patient in its complexity and highlights the pitfalls and risks of diagnosis and therapy of diseases in old age (especially late), the need for an interdisciplinary approach to multimorbid seniors, including the pitfalls of modern pharmacotherapy. The goal of modern medicine in the approach to the elderly population is the optimization of residual organ activities despite a decline in total functional capacity of the organism while increasing multimorbidity. Furthermore, the authors emphasize the significance of the loss of functional capacity with increasing age, the gradual emergence of various diseases up to multimorbidity and increased problems in the social sphere, which can accentuate geriatric frailty and inability to live independently.
