Description The aim of this contribution is to acquaint readers with the content and the structure of the private library of Archduke Rudolf of Austria. This contribution set this topic in broader cultural in historical context. Private library of Archduke Rudolf of Austria is in this time only in form original handwritten inventory Alphabetisches Verzeichnis der Bücher, Landkarten, Kupferstiche, und Musikalien Von seiner keiserlichen Hoheit dem Erzherzoge Rodolph gesammelt, which is stored under the signature AMK 21609 in the Library of Archbishop's Palace in Kroměříž. But as the title page shows, this is not a private library, which would have been systematically built of Archduke Rudolf of Austria for his stay at Kroměříž, but inventory was founded in Vienna in 1809. According to the preserved inventory we can gain an awareness of the content of the private library of the high nobility and reveal his personal interests.
