Description Socialist consumer culture in Czechoslovakia began to develop at the end of the 1950s and in the early 1960s in the context of political liberalization. The study analyses this early phase, the phase of alignment of the socialist practice of advertising, and explains it as foregrounding for the entire socialist period from 1948 to 1989. As proved in the study, this period established the basic models of organization and several practices typical of socialist advertising in the coming years; it allowed specialization in certain sectors of short film production, mainly to distinguish popular-scientific and educational film from advertising; it also created a space for the experimental practice of authors of the later visually attractive genre features of the 1960s, which were mainly musicals.
