Description | The contribution is aimed at discussing the issues related to data protection in context of the Internet of Things. In this respect there is firstly provided an introduction into the concept of the Internet of Things. It is followed by an overview of current tendencies in cybersecurity and personal data breach reporting. Subsequently the newly adopted European General Data Protection Regulation is discussed with focus on the general mandatory personal data breach notification obligation. The specifics of the Internet of Things in this context are also considered. The final section then attempts to encapsulate available economic models relevant for this issue. |
