Description We report on flora and vegetation of an abandoned military shooting range in Dráby forest near Vysoké Mýto, Eastern Bohemia. We found a new site of a critically endangered Taraxacum cognatum (sect. Palustria) and several other valuable species of base-rich intermittently wet sites such as Tetragonolobus maritimus, Centaurium pulchellum and Polygala amarella, some of which reach their eastern distributional limit in Bohemia here. The vegetation consists of a mosaic of basophilous dry grasslands (Festuco-Brometea class) and disturbed intermittently wet grasslands similar to Potentillo reptantis-Caricetum flaccae association. This vegetation type depends on periodical disturbance and is threatened here by succession following the Scotch pine planting. Removal of planted trees and regular management (grazing, mowing, soil disturbance) is needed to preserve the most valuable plant populations.
