Description | One of the likely power centers of Great Moravia was located in the Moravian-Slovak border near Mikulčice and Kopčany municipalities in the floodplain of the Morava River in 8th and 10th century. Available mapping documentation of this area comes only from the 16th century. Reliable maps, however, are available from the early 19th century. Some elements of the historical cultural landscape could have survived the deep turbulences and in the paper we propose the possibilities to identify some of them. Their finding is based not only on old maps, but also on some indications in the current thematic maps describing the components of the nature. |
