Description Hypertension and hyperlipidaemia are the two most common cardiovascular risk factors. It is currently using European SCORE nomogram to stratify cardiovascular risk. Target population casual blood pressure values are below 140/90 mm Hg, in diabetics under 140/85 mm Hg and in patients over 80 years below 150/90 mm Hg. Target LDL-cholesterol (low density lipoprotein) values are in low and intermediate risk (1-4 %) below 3,0 mmol/l, with high risk (5-9 %) 1,3 to 2,6 mmol/land as very high risk (above 10 %) from 0,9 to 1,8 mmol/l. Up to 70 % of patients treated for both diagnoses, falls short of the recommended target values. Uncontrolled hyperlipidaemia significantly increase cardiovascular risk in hypertensive. The most common cause of poor control of both risk factors are inadequate medical treatment and decreased compliance on the patient side. Fixed combinations increase adherence and improve the achievement of the targets. Latest fixed combination allows the treatment of hypertension and hyperlipidaemia together. Fixed dose combination of atorvastatine, amlodipine, and perindoprile is supported by a number of positive results from the large randomized clinical trials (ASCOT, EUROPA).
