| Description | The article was created as the result of the research oriented at innovation of methods, content and forms of primary school teaching in connection with improvement of university education of future primary school teachers. It contains one not very familiar topic which can be used as the means for broadening and deepening mathematics teaching, and further as the motivation for individual study. First, there is given the formulation, the proof and several applications of Stewart’s theorem while determining the lengths of the median, altitude and axis of the interior angle in a triangle. In the conclusion, there is shown that under certain conditions Stewart’s theorem transforms into Apollonius´ theorem and finally to Pythagoras` theorem. |
