| Description | Comenius believed that the foundations of natural philosophy were revealed to the people in the distant past and their footprints can be found in Moses’ biblical words. The idea of Mosaic natural philosophy seems to exclude any concept of progress because it involved the return of natural philosophy to the ancient supernaturally revealed sources. In his writings, Comenius, however, quite often mentions historical improvement of natural philosophy. In my paper, I would like to outline why Comenius did not see a contradiction between the idea of Mosaic physics and the idea of the progress of knowledge. |
