Description | Although the separation mode of hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) is commonly used almost for three decades, retention mechanism of this mode is not clear yet. In 2008, new separation mode based on combination of hydrophilic interactions and coulombic interactions were introduced by A. Alpert. This new separation mode is known as hydrophilic interaction chromatography with electrostatic repulsion (ERLIC). Due to combination of many possible interactions and equilibria in ERLIC mode, is tremendously hard to describe the main retention mechanism conclusively and thus should be closely studied. |
