Description | Prevalence of pathological, usually ischemic changes to the renal parenchyma rises with increasing age. Glomerular damage develops in elderly patients most often secondarily, as a result of diabetes mellitus or hypertension, primary glomerulopathies of autoimmune origin are not exceptional either. Age alone is not a contraindication for kidney function replacement procedures - haemodialysis or transplantation. |
