| Description | Coming from several primary and secondary schools in Brno, was carried out in the macropreparation laboratory of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Brno. Among the specimens, a few historical ones, produced and sold by the most important Czech and world-renowned trader of nature Václav Frič in the late 19th and early 20th century, were found. Their age was estimated about 100 years. Therefore the decision to perform a conservation-restoring investigation, in cooperation with Department of Chemistry, Masaryk University, and other institutions, was accepted. Microbiological, genetic, and histological exploration of selected specimens was performed concurrently. The main aim of these investigations was to identify materials, used for specimen production, the evaluation of the state of samples, and suggestions for further specimen treatment. Similar specimens can also be found in collections of the National Museum in Prague and in many primary, secondary schools, and universities in the Czech Republic. They can also be found in some world museums, such as in Uppsala, Cambridge, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Brussels, St. Petersburg, and other places. |
