Description | The challenges presented in fantastic literature don´t apply to the individual only, but they appeal to the humankind and its future in general. Within fantastic coulisses, they offer a possible, however necessarily partial, answers to the very actual questions of tolerance, personal responsibility, dealing with xenophobia and the like. Analysing several chosen stories from different genres of fantastic literature, I will focus on the varying models of world building within fantastic narrative, with special attention paid to the perception of reality and thus the world building within the mind of fictional character. This will be the platform for pondering over an impact of reading fantastic literature on reader´s mind, supported by findings of cognitive sciences concerning the importance of reading and daydreaming in relation to the real life. |
