Description | Museum research evolves in the same way as the museum itself is constantly evolving. The aim of the paper is to outline the transformation of the form of museum research. Museum research has shifted from an earlier orientation to collections to exploring museum visitors. An earlier analysis of demographic characteristics of the audience has replaced (complemented) the orientation of researchers to study audience experience. Today it is not just about finding out what type of visitors are going to the museum, but also what kind of experience visitors are getting in the museum. Together with the development of museum pedagogy, the pedagogical dimension is getting more and more into research and aims to research museum-educational reality in all its aspects. The attention of the research is directed to the study of museum educational programs and the overall learning process in the museum. The research of the pedagogical plane of the museum environment is inherently related to the constructivist theories of learning, the proponent of which is George Hein, a prominent figure in the field of museum pedagogy. For museum, museum pedagogical, pedagogical as well as social research remains a question and a challenge to explore these elements in the museum. |
