| Description | Czechoslovak-Yugoslav interwar relations in south Moravia corresponded with contemporary trends in Czechoslovakia. These relations played out during the “golden age of society” and were fostered by the Czechoslovak-Yugoslav League (CYL) in south Moravia. Just like the other branches of the CYL, the one in Brno was involved in various cultural activities (such as exhibitions, language courses, translations, the establishment of a library and reading room, etc.), activities focused on supporting minorities (the Yugoslav minority in Italy, connections with Croatians in Moravia), support for Yugoslav students in Brno, and tourism and economic cooperation activities. These activities were not realized only in Brno, but also in nearby towns and villages. The Brno branch of the CYL had certain particularities, which set it apart from other CYL groups (including efforts at expanding the organization, autonomy in establishing the library, significant cooperation with the provincial theater, and activities connected with supporting the Yugoslav minority in Italy). The Moravian Slovak group based in Uherské Hradiště also played an important role in Czechoslovak-Yugoslav relations. The Břeclav CYL branch should also be mentioned. |
