| Description | The presentation opens the so far missing reflection of the death of children at or around the time of birth. Untimely death when birth (of life) is expected is a part of the generally concealed theme of death, however its specificity makes it even more marginalized. The theme under study opens links to our undesratndings of current practices of biomedicine, measutement of the population, identity politics, civic engagement and also questions of research and professional ethics. The issue also opens up parallels between local practices and international practice and between historical perspectiove applied to the Czech Republic as a country from the former Soviet Bloc. |
