Description During the last century, one could see a development of a so-called creative economy due to important economic, social and demographic changes in the society, which were intensified by the globalisation process and by the advance of information and communication technologies. Creativity can be seen as a new type of competitive advantage, which leads to an effective and sustainable development of both regions and the whole country. The purpose of this paper is the author’s effort to outline the issue of the creative economy by utilizing the Creativity index, which was measured for individual regions of the Czech Republic during 2006–2015. Talent, Technology and Tolerance sub-indexes were also studied in the scope of this research. All mentioned indexes are presented graphically in a range of cartograms to improve clarity and interpretation. The paper also contains the research literature representing the most notable experts in the area including the most used methods (in practice) to measure the creative economy by which this research was conducted.
