Description | VanderMeer tempts the readers to the torture, instead of like similar stories the novel does not play with shocking pictures. He manages to unite fragments of various genres: adventure novel, fantasy, mediation and fairy tales. He dresses the event in a melodic and varied language. The novel dares to take a look into a distant - admittedly dystopian - future. But how far is our reality from Rachel, Wicks and Bornes world? The industrialized nations and emerging developing countries are investing vast amounts of billions in war instruments, experimenting with biotechnologies and destroying biotopes at unbelievable speed. VanderMeer's novel is thus not only the invitation to a world full of discoveries, but also a memorial to our dealings with planet Earth. |
