Description | The project Old Stories For Modern Times utilizes Folktales and Folksongs to explore the connection between cultural legacy and current societal conflicts (such as domestic violence, poverty, and intolerance of difference). These topics are important part of the curriculum of future educators. The students will experience one of the possible attitude to this work. The project is held in three phases: 1) Research, 2) Devising/Rehearsal, and 3) Performance. Dr. Litwak will work with students to research and gather source materiál throught e-mail communication. She will then travel to Brno to work directly with research students to develop a working rehearsal script. She will then lead an intensive four-day workshop, engaging students in a process of devising material, building characters, and text. She will then write and direct a performance for the community with post show engagement and discussion. |
