Description | Current possibilities in the field of diagnostic and screening methods continue to show significant advances, however, complex and multiplex applications are still lacking. Our research is focused on development of a methodology with the potential for rapid and simultaneous screening of a wider spectrum of pathogens in a mixed sample. The qualitative analysis is based on multiplex oligonucleotide ligation-PCR (MOL-PCR), adapted to the xMAP suspense detection system using magnetic microspheres. By optimizing the reaction conditions, we have developed a comprehensive protocol for the rapid detection of medically and clinically significant viruses, bacteria and parasites, contaminating food sources in particular. Individual systems are currently being tested with a focus on multiplex functionality. Our goal is to create detection panels adapted to different types of input matrices, such as vegetables/fruits, meat, water, and stools. |
