Description | Periodically flooded ephemeral pools on arable soil are overlooked endangered habitats which serve as refuge for many wetland organisms within mostly homogenous agricultural landscape. In the Czech Republic, these habitats are specially in lowlands critical for the survival of more endangered and protected plant and animal species, which are often bound to open and shallow, early successional stage of aquatic biotopes with unvegetated substrates and without fish. |
