Description | We provide records of two endangered species of saproxylic insects, Aradus obtectus Vásárhelyi, 1988 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Aradidae) and Peltis grossa (Linnaeus, 1758) (Coleoptera: Trogossitidae), documenting for the first time their presence in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve in the eastern Czech Republic (= the White Carpathians). Both these species were collected under the bark of a dead silver fir (Abies alba) in the Ščúrnica private nature reserve near the town of Valašské Klobouky. We review and map their distribution in the Czech Republic and discuss their biology and conservation management. |
