Description | Precision, clarity of expressions and accommodation of the listener’s needs are among the basic prerequisites for successful communication with a client in a legal context, be it a courtroom or a law firm. These essential preconditions become even more prominent when the communication occurs in a foreign language. The presentation addresses the question of whether teachers of legal English pay sufficient heed to these skills when giving language instruction to law students and law professionals, suggesting that one way of dealing with this issue is to focus on the language skill of mediation. |
