Description | During the second period of last century, many studies were focused on changes in functional city structure. Processes leading to these changes has become central theme for both American and later for European urban geographers. The emphasis was placed on the study of monocentric, polycentric and others spatial city models. In Czech Republic, with respect of changes in whole society, these processes have been boosted especially after 1990. On the example of Brno, this article deals with results of recentralization process, which describes emergence of new and functionally complex urban centres beside historical city centre. However, the main aim is to show, that roots of these new city centres (identified in 2016) could go deep in the history and also the reasons for their formation could be different. The article will also concentrate on comparison of new identified centres. Application of the comparative approach will show similarities and differences in their characteristics. |
