Description | The text describes main characteristics of the modern approach to the study of computer virus that was developed in scientific discourse since the end of the eighties to mid of the nineties. In this time, researchers developed the debate aimed at the question if computer virus can be considered as the equivalent of the live organism. Nearly all researchers who participated in the debate applied modern approach to a computer virus. The perspective to a large extent influenced the form of their theoretical texts and created the specific image of computer virus that followed the modern way of thinking defined by french philosopher Bruno Latour. The thorough analysis of the debate will be served as a clear illustration of the fundamental ideas, methods, and assumptions that were typical of the initial phase of computer virus research. |
