Description The article analyses the Czech reception of Russian literature in the last 10 years (2007–2016) using translations published in book form. From a quantitative point of view, it is becoming apparent that only a quarter of all the translations from the Russian language is related to literature. Also, more than 60% of them are editions of older translations or new translations of previously translated works. Most literary works translated into Czech for the very first time comprise of contemporary Russian literature which has been gaining in popularity over recent years. However, its reception shows certain subjectivity. Works critically portraying Russian history of the 20th century and contemporary Russia are translated most often. It is usual that authors’ political as well as social attitudes are emphasized and the art criteria recede into the background. On the contrary, Czech reviewers pay very little attention to works without any overlap with social and political issues.
