Description | The presentation will report the findings of a research study focused on the prospective students of preprimary school teaching at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. The aim of the study was to find out what they are like, what their academic and professional dispositions are for the teaching profession and what their preconceptions are about the actors, processes and environment in school education at the beginning of their graduate teacher education. The general framework of the study is the concept of professionalsm, professional education, professional development and attracting prospective teachers to the profession. A questionnaire survey was carried out between teacher students in their first semester which included closed as well as open questions concerning their histories and (pre)conceptions of educational phenomena. Additional interviews were also carried out to help interpret the quantitative findings. |
