Description | The geographic drought is caused by the common effect of representative factors of all natural components of the landscape and the use of land by humans. These factors change the available amount of water in the country primarily given by the precipitation and the evaporation. Using GIS and DEM, the distribution of maximum air temperatures and the redistribution of precipitation is modeled. The current degree of drought risk is calculated by classifying of the territory up to five levels of risk given by air temperature and moisture content. This is then revised by the effect of long-term landscape factors (geological environment, slope and aspect, soils and land use). Day by day, the current state of the available moisture in the enviroment is calculated. Once the zero water value is reached, there is a geographical drought, and parcels requiring operational measures to mitigate possible negative impacts are located. |
