Description | Just 111 years ago in his dissertation, Dutch mathematician L.E.J. Brouwer has introduced a philosophical-mathematical approach called intuitionism. It was fundamental challenge of the principles on which classical mathematics still stands, i.e. especially the law of excluded middle and the associated technique of proof by contradiction. British philosopher Michael Dummett took over the core of intuitionism to apply it to the theory of meaning and then to all philosophical disciplines. In the lecture, I will set out the details of Dummett's theory of anti-realism, including the arguments against the realism, according to which all statements have truth value once and for all and are independent of man. |
