Description | The evidence to show that smoking is harmful to young people's health is a challenge for the consistent enforcement of anti-smoking activities in the school environment, but also in the society. Smoking is a risk factor for cardiovascular and tumor diseases, respiratory diseases, gastric ulcers, and Alzheimer's disease. The most significant improvement in population health can be achieved by preventing young people from starting smoking. In the paper we present the negative effects of smoking to young people's health, the composition of cigarette smoke, and describe diseases in which smoking is involved. Finally, we are focusing on preventing young people from starting smoking. |
