Description | The purpose of the study is to analyse the influence of the mind on the creation of subjective reality. This relationship is first introduced by means of the concept of subjective, objective and intersubjective reality, the latter concept being specified by the interaction theory and the observer’s effect. The proposed theoretical framework is then used to analyse three novels from the genre of fantastic literature, outlining a possible overlap with the reader and to the reader’s perception of reality. To support the assertion of the fundamental role of literature in understanding the actual world – and thus the relation between perception and reality – findings of cognitive psychology are used. The specifics of fantastic literature as a means of the development of cognitive competences and the knowledge of the world are supported by the work of Marie Nikolajeva and Mark Oziewicz. |
